investigation of the Shower Posse, a Jamaican-based group that controlled street-level gangs such as the Falstaff Crips and the Five Point Generals, the Toronto Star reported Wednesday.

The raids yielded $30,000 in cash, $10,500 in casino checks, 19 guns, more than 10,000 ecstasy pills and marijuana and hashish oil, police said.

Police were able to intercept an undisclosed amount of cocaine entering Toronto from Panama and the United States, the Star reported.

The law enforcement operation, known as Project Corral, also assisted in the seizure of 72 kilograms of cocaine in the Dominican Republic.

"We're very hopeful that by incapacitating these organizations ... we can make our communities safer," Toronto Police Chief Bill Blair said at a news conference Tuesday.
