Daily Star: Simply The Best 7 Days A Week :: News :: Sean Connery in Costa del Sol probe: "SEAN Connery has been ordered to appear before a Spanish magistrate investigating alleged financial irregularities over a house sale deal.

The James Bond star, 79, and his wife Micheline Roquebrune, 81, will be quizzed in the millionaires’ playground of Marbella, Costa del Sol.

Five lawyers have also been ordered to appear before the court after police raided offices on Wednesday in an operation named Goldfinger.

Connery and his wife, a French painter, lived in Marbella from the 70s to the late 90s in a beachside mansion called Malibu.

They entertained stars including Richard Burton in the whitewashed villa.

Connery sold the house for £6million in the late 90s and 72 flats were built. A flat is now worth £2million.

Magistrate Ricardo Puyol is investigating the sale of the house and allegations of tax evasion and money-laundering.

Neither Connery nor his wife has been arrested or charged with any offence.

They will be quizzed behind closed doors before the magistrate decides if any action should be taken."
